Teaching Insights is Oxford Brookes University’s open access teaching and learning publication which is usually published twice a year (in January and July) by the Oxford Centre for Academic Enhancement and Achievement (OCAED). It is a source of practical ideas for teachers in higher education to create exceptional student experiences, provides scholarly discussion about a different important educational theme in each edition and furthers OCAED’s aim to inspire the learning community. It aims to be accessible yet scholarly and is an excellent opportunity for first time student and staff publishers.
It is co edited by OCAED and Students’ Union Vice President for Student Voice. Editions are themed to speak directly to institutional priorities. Contributions from within Oxford Brookes University and other institutions are welcome. Our readership spans the UK, EU and beyond.
The development of Teaching Insights was funded by the Higher Education Innovation Fund in 2020 with the aim to launch a resource to support teaching development based on the practical wisdom of staff and students in higher education. The project’s steering group comprised David Hartley (Commercialisation and Knowledge Exchange Director, Oxford Brookes University), Professor Anne-Marie Kilday (formerly Pro Vice-Chancellor Student and Staff Experience, Oxford Brookes University), Professor Angus Phillips (Director of the Oxford International Centre for Publishing, Oxford Brookes University) and Professor Helen Walkington (Professor of Higher Education, Oxford Brookes University).
